Hummel’s Office Plus was founded in 1934 by Harrison J. Hummel as Excello Typewriter, serving Herkimer, NY with typewriter repairs and essential typing supplies. In 1940, the business expanded into retail as Excello Office Supply, laying the foundation for decades of growth rooted in service and reliability. Through four generations of family ownership and by joining the Office Plus buying cooperative, Hummel’s transformed from a small storefront into an 80,000-square-foot distribution center and one of the 30 largest independent business products dealers in the United States—and the largest in Upstate New York.
Headquartered in Mohawk, NY, Hummel’s is a stocking dealer with over $3 million in on-hand inventory, supported by additional distribution facilities in Boston, New York City, and Philadelphia, allowing most non-stock items to be delivered within 24 to 72 hours. Our fleet of delivery trucks travels more than 500,000 miles each year, serving customers throughout Central and Upstate New York with office supplies, furniture, technology, janitorial and breakroom products, and more. Backed by a strong local sales team, robust online ordering, and a dedicated customer service department, we combine national buying power with the personal service of a local partner. At Hummel’s, we don’t require contracts—because we believe the strongest business relationships are built on integrity, trust, and a handshake.
